Spend, Spend and Spend for retirement
We are trying to rob our children and grandchildren, putting the country's future at risk in the process. On one of the great issues of our time, the social and economic costs of our retirement, we have adopted a policy of selfish silence. continued...

Nice Job If You Can Get It
My dad always said work smarter not harder and the newly elected Democrats have taken that to heart. While most Americans will start their work week on Monday morning the House can wait til Tuesday AT 3 in the afternoon!
Why? A Football game!

I call it the 180 degree Syndrome, when apparently smart people, especially professors and journalists, get their premises wrong. Here is a snippet from an article about "freegans".
THE Thanksgiving holiday is over and the frenzied Christmas shopping season has begun. This is bonanza time for the tribe of rummaging Americans known as "freegans".
The anti-capitalist freegans - the name combines "free" and "vegan" - are so appalled by the waste of the consumer society that they try to live on the leftovers, scavenging for food in supermarket dustbins.
"It's fun. It's a thrill. It's more fun and more satisfying than just going to the store and saying, 'I wanted some bread and I got it'. It's the surprise - and the prize," said Janet Kalish, a New York high school teacher who describes herself as "60 per cent freegan".
"The No 1 problem is that Americans have lost touch with what food is for," Professor Jones said. "We have lost touch with the processes that bring it to the table and we don’t notice the inefficiency."
Did you catch it? Professor Jones says capitalism is so inefficient that we produce too much! Capitalism is so inefficient that freegans can live out of garbage cans! That capitalism is so inefficient that Professor Jones can make a living complaining about it! He's 180 Degress out.
End poverty, promote Capitalism!

As they say, "It's Deja Vu all over again!". As we have seen over the last 120 years almost on a predicted schedule a congressional dog and pony show was on display in Washington yesterday. It was the Republicans apologizing for capitalism and the Democrats seething to abolish it! And what was worst is the oil executives having to explain their right to make a profit.
One line could have summed it up if only someone had the balls to utter, "Mister Senator, the day you admit that a 33 percent tax rate is excessive taxation will be the day I admit a 9.8 percent profit margin is excessive profits!".

Capitalism: Michael Moore's ability to seperate the masses from their money.
Just got done reading a book by Peter Schweizer on the liberal elite, but it could have also included a few conservatives. Here are a few teasers:
"I don't own a single share of stock," Michael Moore declares. No, his tax returns show he has owned hundreds of thousands -- profiting from some of the very companies (like Halliburton and Boeing) he viciously enounces .
How Moore's working-class, "regular guy" pose is contradicted by his lavish lifestyle and prima donna behavior -- such as traveling the country in a private jet accompanied by a fleet of private SUVs and bodyguards .
Moore also relentlessly exposes those who fail to meet his standards of racial fairness and equality. So, of the 134 producers, editors, cinematographers, composers, and production coordinators Moore he hired to work on his many movies, how many do you think were black?
The Nation editor Katrina vanden Heuvel: ultra-left class-warrior, defender of the inheritance tax -- and trust-fund heiress who fought the IRS all the way to the Supreme Court to avoid paying $2 million in estate taxes .
Princeton "ethics" professor Peter Singer crusades for euthanasia for the severely disabled and terminally ill. But when it comes to
his own mother, he operates according to more humane principles (fortunately for her) .
During the 2004 campaign, John Kerry complained that the "super-rich" don't pay their fair share in taxes. Care to guess what percentage of their income Kerry and his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry -- who are worth over $700 million -- are paying in taxes?

As a new feature here I will be celebrating the "Champions of Capitalism" and as not to piss off the other side I will also be exposing a few of the anti-capitalists also.
Our first expose' is for the other team. You see him on T-shirts, he's often quoted in Hollywood and Cuban President Castro loved him so much that he had him shot!
Come on down, our next contestant is.....
Ain't No Che, Man!
I never can figure out why so many young people love Che Guevara. I tried reading a few of his writings but most of it is wandering gibberish. And that's being kind. Che, as he is known, is associated with the progressives as a savior of the under class and the consumate anti-capitalist. It's funny how many people use his likeness to sell something.
If you have the time, here is a great article on the man that points out the real Che. Here is a teaser...
"Che Guevara was monumentally vain and epically stupid. He was shallow, boorish, cruel and cowardly. He was full of himself, a consummate fraud and an intellectual vacuum. He was intoxicated with a few vapid slogans, spoke in clichés and was a glutton for publicity.
But ah! He did come out nice in a couple of publicity photos, high cheekbones and all! And we wonder why he's a hit in Hollywood."
